S. Zia-Ul-Haq & Sons is looking for a Deputy Manager Procurement (Mechanical)!
The Deputy Manager Procurement will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring mechanical and industrial materials required for projects including biochemical, biomechanical, mining, and other industrial plants. The role requires strong market knowledge, an established vendor network, and the ability to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement of mechanical materials and equipment used in industrial plants (e.g., mining, biochemical, biomechanical, and processing plants).
- Identify, evaluate, and develop a strong vendor base for mechanical and industrial supplies.
- Ensure availability of materials such as:
- Pipes, valves, fittings (P&F)
- Pumps, compressors, and turbines
- Structural steel and fabrication items
- Bearings, fasteners, and mechanical components
- Plant machinery spare parts
- Handle RFQs, tendering, and bid evaluation processes.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
- Maintain a robust vendor pipeline with reliable and pre-qualified suppliers.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to understand technical specifications.
- Ensure procurement complies with quality standards and project timelines.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new suppliers.
- Manage purchase orders (POs) and follow up for timely deliveries.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company procurement policies.
- Support in cost optimization and budgeting activities.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and industrial plant materials.
- Experience in procurement for mining, oil & gas, or industrial projects preferred.
- Excellent vendor negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred).
- MBA in Supply Chain / Procurement (added advantage).
Location: Gadap Town Behind Baqai Medical University | Super Highway | Karachi - Pakistan.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in procurement of mechanical / industrial materials.
- Proven track record of handling plant-related procurement.
- Strong existing network of reliable vendors and suppliers.
