Here's a summary of responsibilities:

The USOPC Brand & Fan Engagement team is seeking a Social Content Manager to lead the management, execution, and optimization of social media content across official Team USA channels, sharing stories and engaging millions of fans daily. This role is responsible for driving audience growth, increasing fan engagement, and ensuring all content aligns with brand identity and strategic goals. The manager will serve as a key content decision-maker, overseeing a high-volume production schedule and managing both internal and external resources to deliver high-quality, impactful social media content. The Manager will be a creative leader shaping the voice of Team USA where fans engage with us across existing and future social platforms.

Here's how you'll have an impact:

  • Drive Content Ideation and Execution: Serve as a primary source for content ideation, proactively generating and developing high-impact content concepts and narratives across all social platforms. Ensure all content ladders up into set content strategy inclusive of key brand campaigns, philanthropy efforts, and partner priorities.
  • Oversee Content Production and Quality: Manage the end-to-end production pipeline for all social content (video, graphics, and copy). Ensure creative excellence and production efficiency, delivering high-quality, on-brand assets. Manage the day-to-day execution of the social calendar and publishing schedule.
  • Maintain Brand Voice and Standards: Guarantee consistent adherence to established brand guidelines, tone of voice, and AP Style across all published social copy and creative assets.
  • Performance Analysis and Optimization: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct regular, deep analysis of social data. Translate performance metrics and audience insights into actionable tactics to continuously optimize content and maximize engagement and reach.
  • Innovation and Trend Spotting: Proactively monitor, evaluate, and rapidly capitalize on cultural trends, emerging social platforms, and new content formats to keep the brand's presence current and engaging.
  • Team and Project Management: Oversee content development projects, establishing and enforcing clear timelines and milestones. Manage freelance contributors and external agency partners to ensure efficient content delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Marketing, Communications, and internal business divisions to deliver integrated social content support for major brand campaigns and organizational priorities.
  • Vendor and Resource Management: Manage workflows and relationships with external vendors, contractors, and agencies for large-scale content projects, focusing on project delivery and asset quality.
  • Lead Real-Time Coverage: Execute and, when necessary, lead on-the-ground, real-time social content coverage at major domestic and international events to capture timely, high-impact moments.
  • Community Management and Risk Mitigation: Oversee community management activities, ensuring proactive audience engagement. Implement and follow protocols for monitoring and responding to sensitive social conversations.


Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing/advertising, graphic design, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years in social and digital content development and publication
  • 1-2 years in leadership and management
  • Proven expertise in managing social media presence for large, high-profile brands
  • Demonstrated track record of conceptualizing, pitching, and executing innovative social content campaigns that achieve measurable results
  • Deep knowledge of all major social media platforms and their respective content formats, best practices, and analytics tools.
  • Experience managing and working alongside external agencies
  • Sports experience or knowledge in the field of Olympic, Paralympic, and/or National Governing Body sports
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of multimedia content creation, including writing, video production, and graphic design.
  • Graphic design skills (i.e.: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Creative, energetic self-starter with great interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to execute strategy to tactical level
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Knowledge of and experience with content management systems, social media tools, online video management, and latest trends in social media
  • Ability to work effectively and comfortably with inside and outside constituents and stakeholders
  • Knowledge and passion for sport

Here's some more information you need to know:
  • Hiring Pay Range: $61,000 - $78,000 per year.
  • This full-time, exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
