We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.
The Strategic Sourcing Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies for critical materials, components, and services. This role requires strong technical acumen, cost analysis expertise, and supplier management skills to drive cost competitiveness, supply assurance, and innovation across the supply base.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and engineering requirements.
Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Drive supplier consolidation, risk mitigation, and establish long-term strategic partnerships.
Analyze cost structures to identify opportunities for cost reduction, localization, and value engineering.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing) to drive design-to-cost initiatives.
Conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Should-Cost analyses to optimize sourcing decisions.
Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements with suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance across Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS) parameters.
Implement supplier development and performance improvement programs.
Ensure all sourcing activities comply with company procurement policies and standards.
Manage RFQs, bid analysis, supplier selection, and contract finalization processes.
Maintain accurate sourcing documentation and reporting for audits and management reviews.
Track market trends, emerging technologies, and cost drivers to inform sourcing decisions.
Identify potential supply chain risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Benchmark industry best practices to continuously improve sourcing efficiency.

Strong technical knowledge in [relevant domain: electronics / mechanical / electrical / plastics / sheet metal, etc.].

Expertise in strategic sourcing, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations.

Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / IFS), and sourcing tools.

Ability to influence stakeholders and deliver results under tight timelines.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

5–6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management — preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Exposure to global sourcing, supplier development, and cost reduction projects.

Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO, APQP, and PPAP will be an added advantage.
