Managing Director

We are seeking a Managing Director for our client, a fast-growing and well-established player in the event ticketing industry. Operating at the intersection of technology and live entertainment, the company has built a strong market presence in theatre and cinema ticketing and is now entering a new phase focused on profitability, operational excellence, and international expansion.


This role will be critical in transforming a growth-driven organization into a sustainable, scalable, and financially disciplined business.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the overall business operations, ensuring alignment between growth and profitability objectives
  • Design and implement a clear, sustainable business model, including pricing, commission structures, and financial frameworks
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics across business units (sales, operations, finance, product)
  • Build a robust financial model, improving margins and optimizing cash flow, particularly in pre-financing event structures
  • Develop strong relationships with event organizers while ensuring commercial discipline and long-term sustainability
  • Professionalize the organization by introducing processes, governance, and accountability structures
  • Oversee and optimize internal systems (ERP, reporting tools, proprietary software) to enable data-driven decision-making
  • Lead and scale teams across multiple locations, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Support international expansion, particularly in Europe
  • Work closely with shareholders and investors on strategic initiatives, including potential fundraising or equity transactions
  • Act as a key driver in transitioning the company from a founder-led to a professionally managed structure


Qualifications & Experience


  • Proven experience as a Managing Director, General Manager, or senior executive in high-growth environments
  • Strong background in building and scaling business models, ideally in marketplaces, platforms, ticketing, fintech, or event-related industries
  • Demonstrated success in driving profitability and operational efficiency, not just top-line growth
  • Solid financial acumen with experience in P&L ownership, cash flow management, and financial structuring
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder environments, including founders, investors, and commercial partners
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build systems, teams, and organizational structure from scale-up to maturity
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance relationship management and disciplined negotiation
  • Experience working with data, analytics, and ERP/reporting systems
  • Entrepreneurial yet structured approach; capable of operating in ambiguous and evolving environments
  • International experience or exposure is a plus, particularly in European market expansion
