Manufacturing Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting engineering activities across product design, production manufacturing, testing, calibration, and process efficiency. The ideal candidate will play a key role in launching new products and driving continuous improvement initiatives within our automotive components manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the launch of new products using the APQP process from product validation through the life of the product.

  • Drive process improvements, including scrap reduction, Cpk/SPC analysis, process flow optimization, and process mapping for assigned programs.

  • Gather, coordinate, and apply engineering expertise to support the selection and purchase of machinery and equipment.

  • Execute routine and moderately complex assignments to build technical expertise and sound engineering judgment.

  • Review and implement specification revisions for products.

  • Ensure continuous control procedures are maintained across all quality-impacting activities.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain professional knowledge and technical competency required to perform assigned responsibilities.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.

  • Some production or manufacturing experience required.

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, techniques, and disciplined application methods.

Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of QS-9000 / TS-16949 standards.

  • Experience with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, APQP, and Control Plan Development.

  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills (8D, 7-Step, 5 Phase methodologies preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel, air travel, and extended automobile trips.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Regular movement in, around, and under factory and laboratory equipment.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift during portions of the workday.

Working Environment

  • Automotive components manufacturing office and laboratory setting.

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Occasional travel to plant and/or customer sites may be required.
