Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer is an Engineering resource responsible for capital projects for new and existing business, new work center design, line automation, facility layout/flow and cost reduction initiatives. Manufacturing Engineer’s manage projects and coordinate them with appropriate personnel and input from operations, scheduling, quality, purchasing and sales to meet the company’s strategy goals. Their main focus is on projects that increase capacity, improve efficiency, and/or expand the company’s capabilities with respect to manufacturing.

Essential Job Functions:
New Capital Manufacturing Projects:

  • Plan, design, and manage implementation of large capital manufacturing projects
  • Lead new equipment projects with external vendors comprising new processing techniques
  • Present deliverables such as project scope, quotes, proposals, and ROI’s

Work Center Design:

  • Lead complex equipment moves related to facility restructuring
  • Improve the layout and flow of work centers using Superior Production System principles
  • Assist leadership in documenting future manufacturing plans / facility roadmap

Automation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Plan, design, and implement automation to new & existing work centers
  • Evaluate/determine root cause of bottlenecks and implement solutions
  • Work with technical services to accommodate new product designs into existing or new production capabilities

Documentation:

  • Write proposals for new projects
  • Create project scope reports and presentations as needed for assigned projects
  • Generate required instructions or documents related to projects

Communication & Reporting:

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring a clear understanding of project requirements
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on activities, challenges, and achievements
  • Provide training and support to production staff on new process standards and improvements.

Safety:

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, support safe design practices, and proactively identify and communicate safety concerns within both office and manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or physical sciences field such as Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Automation, or Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Entry-level experience typically includes practical experience completing engineering projects outside of academic requirements, via internships or co-ops.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Team leading experience is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of engineering interns

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full Time Exempt
  • Monday through Friday
  • Weekends as needed.
  • Required to work onsite 100% of the time.

Travel:

  • This position may require occasional travel to vendor, supplier, or training facilities.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a mixture of office & manufacturing environments.
    o Percentage of Office – 50%
    o Percentage of Travel – 5%
    o Percentage of Manufacturing and Distribution - 45%
    o Work in high heat areas
