Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA.
Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems, Inc. company, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer III is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of equipment, automation, and software systems within production environments.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain manufacturing systems to support production goals and quality standards.

Lead projects focused on process improvement, automation, and system integration.

Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

Collaborate with engineering, design, quality, operations, and IT teams to ensure manufacturability, system compatibility, and compliance.

Support implementation and integration of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ERP systems.

Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all manufacturing processes.

Prepare and maintain documentation, SOPs, and training materials for system operations.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

Apply expertise in production workflows, assembly processes, and quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.

Optimize manufacturing operations for efficiency and scalability.

Create and maintain detailed technical work instructions within a controlled process environment.

Perform requirements analysis, system architecture design, and integration across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.

Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and support lifecycle management.

Configure and troubleshoot networking for connected systems, including IP addressing, subnetting, and basic network diagnostics.

Execute scripts for system configuration and deployment in production environments.

Install and configure software packages on deployment systems, ensuring compatibility across hardware and software platforms.

Administer Windows and Linux operating systems, including command-line tools and system basics.

Troubleshoot installation issues and maintain system reliability.

Work with PLCs and industrial control systems to support automation and process control.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years in manufacturing systems engineering or related role.
- Strong knowledge of MES, ERP systems, and automation technologies.

Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.
Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
