Marker

The Marker is responsible for accurately marking steel plates, pipes, and structural components as per approved drawings and templates. The role ensures precision in cutting, fitting, and assembly processes in accordance with shipbuilding standards and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Study and interpret drawings, blueprints, and nesting plans.
• Perform accurate marking on steel plates, profiles, pipes, and sections using chalk, soapstone, scribers, and marking tools.
• Mark cutting lines, reference points, hole positions, bevels, and alignment marks as per specifications.
• Coordinate with fitters, welders, cutters, and supervisors to ensure correct execution of markings.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy before cutting, bending, or fabrication activities.
• Use measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, squares, levels, calipers, and templates.
• Verify material identification and traceability before marking.
• Assist in layout work for hull blocks, bulkheads, decks, and structural assemblies.
• Follow shipyard quality standards, class requirements, and project specifications.
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure safe working practices at all times.
• Report discrepancies in drawings or materials to the supervisor immediately.

Skills & Competencies

• Good understanding of shipbuilding drawings and symbols.
• Strong measurement and layout skills.
• Knowledge of steel fabrication processes in shipyards.
• Ability to work accurately under minimal supervision.
• Team-oriented with good coordination skills.
• Awareness of safety practices in a shipyard environment.

Qualification & Experience

• ITI / Trade Certificate or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Marker in a shipbuilding or heavy fabrication environment.
• Experience in hull fabrication, block construction, or ship repair will be an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
