Market & Café Bar Associate (1221, Kuhio Waikiki)

**At this time we are considering on-island candidates only.**

Pay: from $18/hour*

Availability: Full-Time (40 hours) and Part-Time (20+ hours)

Shifts are based on operation hours of 6am-10:30pm. Current shift priorities include the following:

  • Part-Time - PM Full Closing Shift: approximately 2:00pm-10:30pm
  • Part-Time - PM Partial Closing Shifts: 5-6 hour evenings, closed by 10:30pm
  • Full-Time - Open availability (open–close schedules)

We are currently seeking Market & Café Bar Associates to join our team at Holoholo Café & Market inside Hilton Garden Inn Waikīkī — a retail market and café/bar area serving hotel guests, visitors, and local customers.

Market & Café Bar Associates provide exceptional service to our customers across multiple service areas within Holoholo Café & Market, while meeting the standards of excellent World Class customer service under company policy. This role supports daily operations of the retail market and café/bar service area. They will rotate between the market register and café bar depending on operational needs and business levels, and are expected to perform duties in each service area. They help create a welcoming, fast-paced environment for hotel guests, visitors, and local customers.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Guest Service

  • Provide friendly, welcoming, and efficient service to guests and customers

  • Greet customers and maintain a positive and professional demeanor

  • Answer customer questions regarding menu items, beverages, and retail merchandise

  • Assist guests in locating products throughout the market

Market & Retail Operations

  • Process purchases using the POS register and handle cash transactions

  • Maintain accurate cash drawers and follow cash handling procedures

  • Stock merchandise and maintain organized retail displays

  • Ensure food, beverage, and retail items are properly presented for sale

Cafe & Bar Service

  • Prepare coffee, specialty beverages, and café menu items according to company standards

  • Serve beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages when assigned to café bar shifts

  • Verify identification to ensure responsible alcohol service

  • Follow all company drink recipes and preparation procedures

Cleanliness & Store Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness of market, café, and bar areas

  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures

  • Assist with restocking and general store upkeep

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least Twenty-One (21) years of age at the time of start date.
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of cash handling experience, POS systems a plus.
  • Previous retail, café, barista, bartending, or hospitality experience, preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to process payments, provide change, and reconcile cash at the end of a shift.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to read and identify merchandise items and operate computerized cash register systems.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Demonstrates a positive, service-oriented attitude and a commitment to providing a welcoming customer experience.
  • Must possess a valid TB clearance as required by local regulations.
  • Knowledge of liquor commission rules and regulations.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Honolulu Liquor Commission Liquor Card.
  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and workplace requirements.

**Eligibility is dependent on position and status of full-time, part-time, or casual.

  • The advertised rate of this posting consists of a starting base pay rate of $16.00, plus a premium of $2.00 that is currently offered for this location. The premium is not included when determining compensation for non-worked hours, including, but not limited to, compensation for PTO (Sick/Vacation), non-worked Holidays, FMLA and Worker's Compensation. Compensation for all non-worked hours is calculated on the base pay rate only, not the advertised rate of this posting.
