Job Description

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) is seeking a marketing specialist for it's Marketing and Economic Development Division. This role will consist of 40% Utah’s Own Assistant responsibilities, 40% International Trade Specialist duties leveraging resources from and working in partnership with WUSATA (the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association), and 20% administrative assistant responsibilities.

Primary objectives include ensuring the Utah’s Own Program, international trade, and division administrative needs are met at a high level of customer service and satisfaction. This position is a combination of marketing, outreach, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Utah’s Own Program Manager with administrative tasks and marketing campaigns. May include managing social media, creating and distributing marketing materials, coordinating events and trainings, and related activities.
  • Represent UDAF Marketing and Economic Development programs including Utah’s Own, International Trade, Agritourism and other programs at events and conferences, farmers markets, and other outreach. Some travel and public speaking will be required.
  • Serve as UDAF’s International Trade Specialist working in partnership with WUSATA to help food and ag businesses expand market opportunities and take advantage of export resources such as trainings and trade show reimbursements. This includes collaborating with WUSATA staff, facilitating meetings, and coordinating international trade shows.
  • Collaborate across UDAF divisions to bolster outreach and support for key initiatives, including Agritourism, Farm to School, and various grant programs.
  • Deliver high-level administrative and operational support to the Executive Team, Division Director, and internal staff to ensure departmental success.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates or BA in business, marketing, or related fields and/or 3+ years of marketing and event planning experience including social media.
  • Experience with social media management, Meta, WordPress, and graphic design.
  • Experience with Google Apps and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience managing purchasing and invoice reconciliation.
  • Must have organizational skills, work collaboratively and independently, execute assignments with great attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
