Columbia Grain International, LLC. is a long time established full-service grain company in the grain and pulses business. Headquartered in Portland, OR, we own/operate over 60 elevators and offices throughout WA, ID, MT, NE and ND to support our domestic and export sales program.

Position Description

We’re looking for a Marketing Communications Specialist who brings energy, creativity, and organization to the table. You’ll help us tell our story—through compelling content, well-coordinated campaigns, and engaging communications that reflect who we are across all levels of the company, from the front line to the executive team. You’ll partner with teams across the business, help unify our message and play a key role in strengthening relationships both internally and externally.

What You’ll Do

Marketing & Communication

  • Create and manage content strategies for internal and external communication channels (social media, website, newsletters, print, etc.).
  • Utilize Google Ads and Facebook advertising to create targeted ad campaigns that meet business objectives.
  • Analyze website traffic using Good Analytics to track performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Write and publish thoughtful, engaging, and brand-aligned content that speaks to both frontline and office-based employees.
  • Maintain and update our company website (WordPress experience required).
  • Collaborate with regional marketing committees to ensure messaging is consistent, timely, and well-executed.
  • Support company-wide communication efforts with visuals, flyers, and other branded materials.
  • Help shape and execute strategies that elevate our voice and values in the communities we serve.

Events & Engagement

  • Assist and collaborate with the Executive Assistant to plan and coordinate company and local events (details vary by department and location).
  • Support the logistics, communications, and materials that make our events run smoothly and feel connected to our culture.

University Partnerships & Internship Program

  • Lead our internship program, from outreach and event coordination to onboarding and intern engagement.
  • Build and nurture relationships with universities to establish long-term hiring pipelines and support academic partnerships (e.g., guest speaking, campus events).

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor tone and style across a wide audience.
  • Experience planning or supporting events—corporate, community, or campus-based.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders at once.
  • Proficiency with WordPress and common digital tools (Constant Contact, Canva, Adobe Suite, Microsoft 365, Photoshop).
  • Social media experience managing content calendars, identifying post that align with the brand and crafting content for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to company locations, events, and partner sites.
  • Team player with a positive, proactive mindset and a passion for relationship building.
