Position Overview

BuildSense is seeking a creative, driven, and proactive Marketing Coordinator (graphic design, social media, and content creation focus) to help elevate and maintain our brand presence across the Triangle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of design, content creation, and hands-on involvement in the construction environment, and who thrives working both independently and collaboratively.

This is a part-time, flexible role with strong potential to grow into a full-time position based on business needs and performance as the company continues to expand.

What You Will Do

  • Manage and update website content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and brand alignment
  • Create high-quality graphic design materials, including ads, signage, e-blasts, mailers, and promotional content
  • Lead social media management, including photography, content creation, and posting
  • Support brand visibility and lead generation efforts through local marketing initiatives
  • Manage Google reviews, business listings, and Google Ads
  • Assist with SEO efforts and monthly reporting (training and support available)
  • Develop and distribute marketing and sales materials
  • Coordinate and support events, sponsorships, and community engagement
  • Prepare submissions for architectural and construction awards
  • Maintain organized marketing files and assets on the company server
  • Attend occasional job sites and events to capture content and support marketing efforts

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is excited, self-motivated, and proactive, and who brings ideas to the table while taking initiative without needing direction.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong graphic design experience (Adobe InDesign required; Canva-only experience is not sufficient)
  • Portfolio required with application (demonstrating both digital and print work)
  • Familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator is highly preferred
  • Experience managing social media platforms and content creation
  • Website content management experience (HTML knowledge is a plus)
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Clear and responsive communication

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • SEO and Google Analytics experience (can be learned on the job)
  • Experience in construction, architecture, or related industries
  • Experience with custom residential or design-forward brands

Note: We value experience and capability over formal education. A degree is not required if you have proven hands-on experience.

Work Structure and Schedule

Primary office location: 502 Rigsbee Avenue, Suite 201, Durham, NC 27701

  • Part-time, hourly role with variable weekly hours based on business needs
  • Typical range: 10 to 25 hours per week
  • Hours may fluctuate week to week, and onboarding may require additional time initially
  • Hybrid position
  • In-office collaboration required initially; ongoing weekly or bi-weekly meetings thereafter
  • Opportunity to work remotely once established and trusted
  • Flexible schedule; however, the candidate must maintain:
  • Consistent and predictable availability during agreed-upon working hours
  • Responsiveness and accessibility during the workday via phone, text, and email
  • Availability for occasional daytime meetings, job site visits, and events

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate (W-2): Typically, $23–$26/hour, depending on experience
  • This role is primarily structured as a W-2 position; however, 1099 arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs.
  • Simple IRA with 3% company match (W-2 employees)
  • Gas reimbursement for work-related travel (excluding commute)
  • Eligible to join company-paid cell phone plan (after 90 days)

Requirements

  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle (travel to job sites and events required; no company vehicle provided)
  • Must be able to safely navigate active construction sites
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks (e.g., climbing ladders, lifting, moving around job sites)
  • Must pass:
  • Drug screening
  • Background check (including driving record)
  • Physical capability test
  • Must be currently residing in the Triangle, NC area
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
