Job Overview
The Marketing Intern plays a key role in supporting the marketing efforts of the Flint Children’s Museum. Working closely with the Marketing Director, this position is responsible for organizing and executing marketing and communication strategies that promote the Museum’s events, exhibits, and programs. The Marketing Intern will help manage the Museum’s social media platforms, update digital listings, assist with the development of creative materials, and ensure that all communications are timely, accurate, and aligned with the Museum’s mission. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, creative, and passionate about engaging the community through effective marketing initiatives

Responsibilities
Social Media and Marketing Coordination:

  • Organize and schedule social media content across various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), ensuring posts are timely, accurate, and engaging.
  • Post graphics and event details to community calendars, the Museum website, and assist with the printing and distribution of flyers.
  • Research local and digital marketing strategies, and compile data and ideas for marketing programs, events, or special promotions.

Website and Digital Listings Management:

  • Update business listings on platforms such as Google, Apple Maps, Pure Michigan, and others to ensure the Museum’s information is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media platforms, engaging with the public in a friendly, professional manner.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Collect data for quarterly marketing reports, measuring the effectiveness of various campaigns and marketing efforts.
  • Attend special programs and daily activities to collect photos, feedback, and other data that can inform marketing strategies.

Donor and Grantor Recognition:

  • Assist in managing donor recognition and ensuring that grantors and companies are acknowledged across platforms and in print or digital media.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the Marketing Director, including scheduling, organizing files, and assisting with marketing initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or pursuit of museum studies, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be a resident of the City of Flint. Grant Funded for youth between the ages of 16-24.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, and other relevant software is required. Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite and video/photo editing tools.
  • Digital photography and video editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently, keeping marketing materials and schedules on track.
  • A strong attention to detail to ensure that all materials are error-free, consistent, and timely.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate ideas and research to the Marketing Director and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and think critically without constant supervision.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 31 per week
