Marketing Manager

Tempe, United States

A “Day in the Life” of the Marketing Manager

This Marketing Manager runs lean and delivers high impact. The day starts by reviewing performance dashboards—site traffic, inbound leads, campaign ROI—and adjusting priorities in real time. They map out messaging, content, and digital campaigns that align directly to growth goals. They roll up their sleeves: drafting copy, managing design tools, pushing campaigns live, optimizing SEO/SEM, and analyzing conversion data.

Midday involves cross-functional work: aligning with sales on lead quality, collaborating with product on positioning, and ensuring leadership has clear visibility into marketing impact. They keep initiatives tight and results measurable—email sequences, social presence, paid ads, PR outreach, event prep—executed directly, without layers of delegation.

By afternoon, they’re testing and iterating—A/B ads, content tweaks, landing page experiments. The role is hands-on, decisive, and scrappy. They close the day by reporting on wins, documenting learnings, and teeing up the next set of experiments. Every move is about moving the needle fast.

General Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Campaign Ownership – Build and execute campaigns across digital, social, email, and events without outside agencies.
  • Content Creation Machine – Write, edit, and publish blogs, case studies, email sequences, and sales collateral.
  • Digital Demand Gen – Manage paid search, paid social, SEO, and retargeting campaigns; track ROI relentlessly.
  • Sales Alignment – Tight feedback loop with sales to ensure marketing efforts generate quality leads and fuel pipeline growth.
  • Analytics-Driven – Daily monitoring of KPIs (traffic, leads, cost per acquisition, conversion rates) to optimize quickly.
  • Brand Stewardship – Ensure consistent messaging and positioning across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Lean Execution – Use in-house tools and automation to scale output without adding headcount.
  • Test-and-Learn Mentality – Rapid iteration of creative, messaging, and channel strategy.
  • Additional responsibilities as the company grows and needs evolve.

Characteristics of the Role

  • Process Improvement: Consuming information, generating concise results, and always improving.
  • Optimism: Getting energy from getting to the root cause of issues and coming up with creative solutions.
  • Proactive: You anticipate issues before they arise and jump in to solve them without being asked.
  • All-In: You treat this like a career, not a gig. You want to grow, stretch, and own more over time.
  • Adaptable: You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly — and you help bring clarity when they do.
  • Detail-Obsessed: You sweat the small stuff so others can focus on the big picture.
  • Culture-Builder: You represent our values in how you show up, support others, and keep the engine running smoothly.
