Marketing Manager

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra (TSO) seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking Marketing Manager. This position, reporting to the VP of Marketing and Communications, plays a key role in the marketing team, helping to drive the TSO’s mission to build and enrich community through music. With a passion for and consistent focus on attendance and revenue goals, the Marketing Manager manages engaging season and single ticket campaigns, social media, promotional partnerships, community engagement initiatives, on-site concert activities, and internal departmental reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Season and Single Ticket Sales Campaigns

  • With VP of Marketing, assists with management of all parts of subscription and single ticket marketing campaigns to drive sales, including:
  • Creates messaging and segmentation for subscription and single ticket marketing to effectively reach current and future audiences.
  • Coordinates the subscription renewal process including renewal timeline, direct mail messages, e-blasts, subscriber guides, etc.
  • Develops copy, graphics or video in support of marketing efforts, including proofreading and editing content for clarity and engagement.
  • Works with Associate Director of PR & Communications to create compelling email and social campaigns for individual concerts.
  • Seeks out local partners and businesses to create promotional opportunities, including possible group sales leads.

Schedule Management and Tracking

  • Manages Schedules, Tracking and Reporting in support of departmental efforts.
  • Oversees execution of TSO’s Google ad grant program.
  • Posts concerts and events on public event calendars.
  • Manages media sponsorship and list trade opportunities.
  • Manages design, content and production timelines for digital, electronic and print assets, including the in-venue performance programs.
  • Manages advertising content and scheduling with media vendors and partner ad agencies.
  • Tracks departmental expense budgets and helps facilitate reporting on ROI, revenue projections and other campaign metrics.

TucsonTix

  • Working with VP of Marketing and Communications, and Director of Education and Community Engagement, manages the TucsonTix program offering free tickets to youth and select community partners.
  • Develops marketing efforts to increase awareness among potential partners; manages application, fulfillment, and tracking processes.
  • Tracks program statistics and provides regular reports on reach, usage, and attendance.

Concert & Events Activities

  • Coordinates lobby activations and displays, including materials, for all concert events.
  • Works with local businesses to create concert-related auxiliary events.
  • Rotates concert duty and promotional duties with other Marketing team members.

Community Partnerships and Engagement

  • In collaboration with Director of Education and Community Engagement, seeks out and organizes TSO presence at community events and other grassroots opportunities across the city.
  • Works with partner organizations such as Visit Tucson, Local First, local chambers, and other arts organizations to pursue mutually beneficial partnerships and increase awareness of the TSO.
  • Represents the TSO at community and networking events.
  • Manages student outreach programs, particularly the student rush program, to engage college and university students on an ongoing basis.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA in marketing, communications, or related field (or relevant experience)
  • 2-3 years Marketing experience, preferably in an arts or non-profit setting
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, email marketing software and other web-based programs and schedule trackers
  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Experience creating and implementing campaigns with an emphasis on attendance and revenue
  • Strong writing skills, with attention to detail and the ability to edit and proofread for content and clarity
  • Passion for live music, for arts as a tool of change, and a commitment to inclusion and access
  • Strong familiarity with the Tucson community
  • Creative thinking skills, with the ability to problem solve and think on your feet
  • Position will frequently work nights and weekends. Flexible scheduling is available during the week.

Essential Functions:

  • Available to work nights and weekends for events and concert duty.
  • Available to travel to performances throughout Pima County as needed.
  • Maintain an active driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
