Marketing Specialist

Gateway Building Company is a locally owned commercial general contractor serving the Triangle region. Our Durham-based team delivers commercial construction projects across interiors, healthcare, technology, industrial, and hospitality environments.

We specialize in mid-market commercial construction for owners who value professionalism, collaboration, and accountability. Gateway delivers the capability of a larger firm with the responsiveness and care of a smaller team, creating a better construction experience for our clients.

We are seeking a Marketing Specialist who enjoys bringing structure, creativity, and organization to a growing construction company.

The Role

At Gateway, our marketing team plays an important role in telling the story of the work we build and the relationships behind it. In this role, you will support marketing initiatives that strengthen Gateway’s brand and business development efforts while working closely with leadership, project teams, and external partners to develop proposals, marketing materials, and communications that keep Gateway visible and connected within the industry. We are looking for someone who brings both creativity and organization, taking ownership of marketing initiatives while maintaining the systems and brand assets that support both current projects and future opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing and Brand Support

  • Create and manage social media content that highlights projects, team culture, and industry involvement
  • Develop branded graphics and visual materials for both digital and print use
  • Ensure brand consistency across proposals, communications, and marketing materials

Proposals and Content Development

  • Draft, edit, and format proposals, RFP responses, and marketing collateral
  • Design project sheets, case studies, and capability statements
  • Partner with project teams to capture project stories and outcomes
  • Maintain and update resumes, project descriptions, and proposal content

Client and Market Engagement

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date marketing collateral
  • Manage website updates and digital content
  • Support newsletters, blog posts, and communication campaigns
  • Maintain marketing databases including client contacts and media lists

Internal Communications and Design

  • Create internal handouts, forms, and communication materials
  • Support company announcements and recognition initiatives
  • Assist leadership with marketing-related communication needs

Events and Sponsorships

  • Support company events, trade shows, and sponsorship activities
  • Design invitations and event materials
  • Assist with marketing campaigns tied to events
  • Coordinate event logistics with vendors and partners

Promotional Materials and Brand Assets

  • Source, order, and track company-branded promotional materials
  • Work with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Maintain the company image library including photography and graphics
  • Coordinate project photography and video when needed
  • Assist with signage coordination for projects and events

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field preferred
  • 2–3 years of marketing experience, ideally within Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) or professional services
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) or Canva
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience with website updates and social media management
  • Familiarity with CRM systems is a plus
  • General photography skills are helpful
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to build positive working relationships across teams
  • Professional judgment and a proactive approach to supporting Gateway’s values
