Job Description:
PFC seeks a self-motivated and business-minded Markets Assistant to support the Markets & Aggregation Manager in operating PFC’s diverse markets, with the ultimate goal of helping PFC farmers create viable farm businesses. The Markets Assistant, reporting directly to the Markets & Aggregation Manager, is a full-time, seasonal position.
Research and Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the Markets & Aggregation Manager for PFC’s CSA program, the PFC Farm Store, the PFC International Farmers Market, the Produce Aggregation for Food Pantries program, and all wholesale accounts
- Assist Markets & Aggregation Manager in market research to assess wholesale and retail pricing and identify areas and opportunities for growth for supporting PFC farmers
Daily Market Support:
- Assist in preparing for markets, operating markets, and deliveries
- Responsible for order fulfillment for wholesale accounts and food pantry deliveries
- Using PFC’s delivery truck, deliver produce to wholesale accounts outlets, food pantries, and the PFC International Farmers Market
- Support recordkeeping for markets, including records of sales, invoices, and farmer payments
- Clean, sanitize, and organize the barn’s food aggregation hub wash and pack area regularly including produce delivery bins for markets
- Clean, sanitize, and organize the barn’s wholesale account cold storage units regularly
- Perform regular and rigorous quality checks and inventory on products sold by farmers to PFC
- Provide communications support to the Markets & Aggregation Manager for weekly CSA and wholesale emails
- Assist in organizing and operating the PFC International Farmers Market, including maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Keep the PFC Farm Store and its entrance clean, including regular cleaning of the cooler and freezer, running inventory, and communicating with the Markets & Aggregation Manager when products from partner farms need to be reordered
- When needed, operate the PFC Farm Store including stocking inventory, operating the cash register, interfacing with and assisting customers, and other duties as needed
- Prepare and create displays for PFC produce for the CSA and for sale at the PFC Farm Store
- Engage with and assist CSA members and shoppers at both the PFC Farm Store and the PFC International Farmers Market
- Assist Farm Crew with work in fields including, but not limited to, harvesting and washing produce
- Other duties as assigned
Farmer Mentorship and Education
- Assist Markets & Aggregation Manager in supporting business and market education workshops for farmers, including administrative support for creating materials
- Provide technical assistance to farmers including, but not limited to, post-harvest handling, proper packaging of orders, proper usage of the hub’s wash and pack station, invoice writing, recordkeeping, and market development
- Provide technical assistance to farmers at PFC’s International Farmers Market
Requirements/ Qualifications:
- Commitment to the mission and values of Providence Farm Collective
- Professional and respectful in all interactions, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Hard working, organized, and self-motivated
- Excellent communicator
- Multilingual with fluency in Burmese, Karenni, and/or Swahili preferred
- Proficient in Google Drive and Microsoft Suite
- Ability to work well independently, without direct supervision, and also as a team member
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding work on a daily basis
- Experience with marketing and businesses in the agriculture/ food industry preferred
- Ability to drive the delivery truck and navigate diverse driving landscapes
- Valid driver's license and personal transportation with clean driving record
Term and Hours:
This is a full time, seasonal position from April 13, 2026, through November 20, 2026. The hourly pay rate is $22-24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Weekend and evening work hours are required for this position. The expected start date for the Markets Assistant is April 13, 2026.
