Job Title: Mason (Civil and Block Work)Reports To: Construction Supervisor/Foreman

Job Summary:

A Mason is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of concrete, brick, or blocks. This includes working on walls, floors, ceilings, and various architectural or structural elements in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities: Civil Masonry:

• Concrete Work:
• Prepare and pour concrete into forms, ensuring proper leveling and curing.
• Repair or resurface damaged concrete structures like floors, beams, or columns.
• Plastering and Finishing:
• Apply plaster, stucco, or other finishes to walls, ceilings, or other surfaces.
• Ensure smooth and even finishes as per design specifications.
• Structural Work:
• Assist in building foundations and reinforcing structures using concrete or rebar.
• Erect scaffolding and other necessary construction equipment.

Block Masonry: Block and Brick Laying:

• Lay bricks or blocks in horizontal rows, ensuring alignment and proper mortar application.
• Cut and shape bricks or blocks to fit corners, edges, or openings.
• Measurement and Alignment:
• Measure work area dimensions and ensure level and plumb construction.
• Use tools like spirit levels, plumb lines, and string lines for accurate placement.
• Structural Maintenance:
• Repair or replace broken or damaged bricks, blocks, or mortar.
• Perform restoration work on historical or aging masonry structures.

Tools and Equipment:

• Hand Tools: Trowels, hammers, chisels, levels, and jointers.
• Power Tools: Masonry saws, mixers, drills.
• Equipment: Scaffolding, ladders, measuring tapes, and buckets.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
• Strong understanding of materials like cement, concrete, sand, and bricks.
• Knowledge of mixing proportions for mortar and concrete.
• Physical Requirements:
• Good physical strength and stamina to work in challenging conditions.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in masonry work, including block and civil work.
• Familiarity with safety protocols in construction sites.
• Attention to detail for precision in alignment and finishes.
• Teamwork and effective communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED1,500.00 - AED1,800.00 per month

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• UAE: 4 years (Required)
