Well established and growing national law firm is presenting a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join as a Mass Tort Attorney responsible for coordinating and managing a number of Mass Tort dockets.

This candidate will be essential in monitoring these claims from start to finish, reporting directly to the firm’s owner and other attorneys and requires the ability to coordinate/work with members of the Firm located in other locations.

Prior experience in a mass torts-related field including product liability, pharmaceutical litigation, product defect, environmental contamination and/or other similar complex litigation is desired.

Excellent organizational/data management skills are required. The Firm is looking to hire as soon as the right candidate is found.

This in an in-office position available in Raleigh, NC; Chicago, Il, St. Louis, MO or Atlanta, GA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Tracking the status of open cases within the firm (active dockets), including through communication with the assigned legal staff, to ensure that cases are being processed according to the needs of the current stage of the litigation.
  • Providing reports to the firm’s owner regarding the status of cases as requested.
  • Ensuring that the staffing needs of active projects/cases are met by meeting with the paralegals/supervisors of various dockets to determine staffing needs and reassigning personnel to projects as needed.
  • Assisting the legal staff with developing and implementing case management processes to meet the needs of the litigation/project, including processes related to the ordering of medical records, working with outside vendors/companies (couriers, mail) and working with internal departments (IT, Accounting)
  • Responding to inquiries from clients regarding the status of their case and answering (or redirecting) questions which cannot be answered by the legal staff.
  • Acting as the point person between the managing attorney/firm owner and the legal staff regarding general case/litigation status updates and communicating that information with the legal staff (educating them) to allow them to effectively manage their cases/clients.
  • Ensuring that relevant case information is properly entered into and tracked within the firm’s case management software including case stage/statuses, staff assignments, and all client correspondence.
  • Running regular reports on Statutes of Limitations for all active cases to ensure that SOLs are being properly entered, updated, and protected in advance of their expiration date.

Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • State bar certification in the state in which you reside
  • Minimum in overseeing/managing a high-volume docket of cases.
  • Mass torts-related experience (including product liability, pharmaceutical litigation, product defect, environmental disaster and/or other similar complex litigation) is required
