Material Engineer

Location: Faisalabad
Position: Material Engineer

Role Overview

The Material Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all material-related activities on site, including quality testing, approval, and compliance with project specifications. This role ensures that all construction materials meet the required standards and contribute to the delivery of safe, durable, and cost-effective infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Testing & Quality Control

  • Conduct and supervise testing of construction materials (concrete, steel, asphalt, aggregates, soil, cement, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, ASTM, PEC).
  • Approve/reject materials based on quality control results.
  • Monitor and verify job mix formulas and concrete/asphalt mix designs.

2. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain complete records of all test results, approvals, and material certifications.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly material quality reports.
  • Ensure traceability of materials from source to execution stage.

3. Vendor & Supplier Coordination

  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to verify material quality.
  • Ensure suppliers deliver materials as per approved specifications.
  • Conduct site and factory inspections as needed.

4. Site Supervision & Compliance

  • Work closely with site engineers and contractors to ensure proper material usage.
  • Verify that materials are stored, handled, and applied according to standards.
  • Ensure construction works comply with approved design mix and specifications.

5. Standards & Audit Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, contract documents, and PEC standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for external inspections related to materials.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • 100% compliance with material specifications and standards.
  • Zero non-conformance reports (NCRs) related to material usage.
  • Timely approval of all materials before site execution.
  • Maintain 100% accuracy in lab testing reports and records.
  • Ensure zero project delays due to material unavailability or rejection.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Materials Engineering (PEC Registration required).
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in material testing, QA/QC, and site supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and testing methodologies (ASTM, AASHTO, BS standards).
  • Hands-on experience in preparing and approving job mix formulas (concrete & asphalt).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Strong coordination ability with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.

Working Conditions

  • Based at site office with regular lab and field visits.
  • May require extended hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers’ facilities for material inspections.
