Material Engineer

Job Title: Material Engineer (ME Civil)

Location: Lahore

Department: QAQC

Reports To: Senior manger Audit & Director Audit

Job Summary:

The Material Engineer (Civil) is responsible for planning, evaluating, and ensuring the quality of construction materials used in building projects. The role involves material approvals, testing, compliance with specifications, and coordination with site and procurement teams to ensure timely availability and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and approve construction materials as per project specifications and standards.
• Coordinate with procurement team for material submittals and approvals.
• Ensure all materials comply with approved drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications.
• Conduct and supervise material testing (concrete, steel, aggregates, etc.) through labs.
• Maintain records of material approvals, test reports, and inspection logs.
• Monitor material usage at site and control wastage.
• Liaise with consultants for material approvals and inspections.
• Evaluate new materials and suppliers/vendors.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of materials at site (e.g., cement, steel).
• Prepare material reconciliation reports and consumption analysis.
• Support QA/QC team in audits and inspections.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in building construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and testing standards (ASTM, BS, ACI, etc.).

Skills & Competencies:

• Good understanding of material specifications and quality control procedures.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic knowledge of construction software.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and BOQs.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience working on high-rise or commercial projects.
• Familiarity with local and international construction standards.
• Previous experience in coordination with consultants and labs.
