Roles & responsibilities
- Perform material selection and specification in line with project requirements
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as ASTM International, ASME, NACE International, and API, along with QatarEnergy specifications
- Conduct corrosion assessments, failure analysis, and material degradation studies
- Review and approve Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), and vendor documents
- Coordinate directly with clients for approvals and technical clarifications
- Support procurement, fabrication, and construction phases with technical inputs
- Review coating systems, cathodic protection, and insulation specifications suitable for Qatar’s environmental conditions
- Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, and integrity management program.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate material solutions into product designs, ensuring compatibility and performance.
- Conduct failure analysis on materials to determine the root cause of issues and recommend improvements or alternatives.
Desired candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred for specialized roles.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in materials engineering, particularly in sectors like Oil & Gas.
- Experience with QatarEnergy or similar Clients
- Strong knowledge of corrosion, material selection, and sour service
- Strong English communication and client-handling skills
- Ability to effectively engage with diverse teams
