Job Summary

A Materials Handler, colloquially “Water Spider”, is responsible for keeping workstations fully stocked with materials. This is to control the continuous flow of productivity, assuring that the daily production and on-time delivery schedules are met. This is done in a fast-paced environment requiring excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to organize and prioritize. The primary function will be the coordination and delivery of component parts necessary to sustain manufacturing operations while performing material handling duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as MT1 Supermarket Water Spider.
  • Serve as Skid Supermarket Water Spider (current state).
  • Transition into PC1 (A100N) Water Spider role full-time once the C600 side is set up.
  • Support CL1 monthly cycle counts.
  • Record 100% of all inventory movements to and from designated locations, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Accurately log all transfers in the system to maintain correct inventory balances.
  • Ensure all transfers are consistently entered into the system.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, leads, and other departments to maintain inventory accuracy and timely replenishment.

Accountability

  • Responsible for the accuracy and recording of material movement records and timely transfer entries.
  • Supports reduction of material discrepancies through precise system transactions.
  • Contributes to overall production flow efficiency by maintaining availability of required parts and materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop a working knowledge of Blue-White products, features, and production work cells.
  • Apply Just-in-Time (JIT) practices to ensure materials and supplies are available in the right quantity, time, and location.
  • Move, stage, and distribute raw materials and components to production work cells as needed.
  • Issue and record material transactions in the ERP system, including inventory transfers and cycle count adjustments.
  • Verify inventory accuracy through physical counts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain proper stock levels.
  • Organize, label, and store materials systematically for easy access and control.
  • Inspect stock for wear, defects, or expiration; report and document findings as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and 5S practices to sustain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize material flow and inventory turns.
  • Maintain punctual attendance, follow all safety procedures, and ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA standards.

Education & Experience

A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred, or at minimum, two years of experience for an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) environment.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Understanding of manufacturing and inventory control processes and how they interact across departments.
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems to query, monitor, and enter data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel (basic formulas and data tracking).
  • Knowledge of inventory management methods (e.g., ABC classification).
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail when reviewing system data, reports, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with production processes, quality control, and cost management preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Travel

Infrequent local trips to pick up or deliver parts and/or equipment.

Physical Demands

This is largely an active role (i.e., long periods of standing & walking). Daily, the role will require walking to work cells, offices, and other departments. The offices are on two floors, so occasional stair climbing might be needed (an elevator is available). This is considered a heavy work position where the employee will exert fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds of force occasionally, and/or twenty-five (25) to fifty (50) pounds of force frequently, and/or ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds of force constantly to move objects. The role also requires the ability to reach, which is defined as when a person bends the elbows, and the angle at the shoulders is about ninety degrees (90°) or more, or (2) A person keeps the elbow extended, and the angle at the shoulder is about One-hundred twenty-five degrees (125°) or more.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment, that, at a minimum, will require safety glasses and, in some instances, hearing protection. Please note that the facility contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
