  • A Material Controller manages the flow of materials within an organization by ensuring accurate inventory, coordinating with suppliers, and overseeing receiving, storing, and distribution. Key responsibilities include tracking stock, performing audits, generating purchase orders, ensuring quality control, and using computerized systems to maintain records. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various departments and external partners.

  • Inventory management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all materials, including regular audits and cycle counts, and ensure the physical inventory matches system records.
  • Procurement and supplier coordination: Generate purchase orders, track deliveries, and work with suppliers to resolve issues and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Logistics and distribution: Coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials, monitor shipments, and manage the storage and movement of items to designated facilities.
  • Quality control: Work with quality control teams to establish and maintain quality standards for incoming materials, conducting inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Reporting and data management: Use computerized systems and software to document all material transactions, generate reports, and provide management with relevant information.
  • Problem-solving: Investigate stock discrepancies, anticipate material requirements, and proactively address potential shortages or delays to prevent disruptions.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Required skills and qualifications

  • Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and clients.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Capability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions.
  • Physical stamina: Some roles may require the ability to lift items, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Education: A high school diploma may be sufficient for entry-level roles, while a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field is often preferred for more advanced positions.
