Math Instructor (Abacus/ Mental/ Finger Math)

Job Overview:

PNY Genius — a project by PNY Trainings, Pakistan’s No. 1 Kids Training Institute — is looking for a Math Instructor who can teach Abacus and Finger Math to kids aged 7–14 years. The instructor will train students in mathematical thinking, concentration, memory enhancement, and mental calculation through structured modules combining fun and learning.

This position requires excellent communication skills, patience with young learners, and proficiency in Abacus tools and Finger Calculation techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Introduction to Abacus & Finger Math

  • Explain the concept and benefits of Abacus to young learners.
  • Teach finger value recognition and counting rules using both hands.
  • Conduct engaging sessions introducing Abacus finger counting and basic arithmetic.

2. Abacus Finger Counting & Tool Introduction

  • Train students on drawing and identifying bead values on the Abacus.
  • Teach counting, addition, subtraction, and place values on the Abacus.
  • Conduct regular exercises like Pinch In / Pinch Out movements.

3. Calculations Without Compliments (Without Friends)

  • Teach one-digit to five-digit addition, subtraction, and mixed value operations.
  • Conduct hands-on activities to improve accuracy and speed.
  • Develop imagination and visualization skills for mental Abacus practice.

4. Small Friend Formula (5’s Compliments)

  • Introduce Small Friend Formula using finger Abacus and tool-based Abacus.
  • Demonstrate formulas for one to five-digit calculations.
  • Engage students in practice sessions and speed tests.

5. Big Friend Formula (+10 / -10 Compliments)

  • Teach Big Friend Formula for higher-level addition and subtraction.
  • Conduct practical exercises using 10’s complements for 1–5 digit numbers.
  • Encourage mental calculation through repetition and visualization.

6. Mixed Compliment Formulas

  • Combine Without, Small, and Big Friend Formulas for complex problem-solving.
  • Guide students in multi-digit operations and speed calculation activities.
  • Conduct imagination practice and speed check tests.

7. Multiplication & Competition Preparation

  • Teach 1 & 2 digit multiplication with 2, 3, and 4 digit values on Abacus.
  • Organize practice competitions to boost students’ confidence and accuracy.
  • Motivate and prepare students for internal and external math contests.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lesson plans and maintain progress reports.
  • Create a fun, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Communicate with parents regarding students’ progress and performance.
  • Ensure discipline, consistency, and student engagement in every session.
  • Work closely with the academic and operations team to enhance learning quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (preferred).
  • Prior experience teaching Abacus or Finger Math (training can be provided).
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Patience and enthusiasm for working with kids.
  • Strong understanding of mental math, concentration, and visualization techniques.
