Mature & Reliable Family Assistant Needed

Job # 45063: Mature & Reliable Family Assistant Needed For Busy Executive Mom & Two Boys In Bedford, TX (Murphy Dr & Hwy 121)

Message from Mom: Our family is navigating a season of adjustment following a recent loss, so emotional maturity, reliability, and steadiness are very important qualities in a caregiver.

We are a close-knit family of three. I am a senior executive in property management, and my role requires a high level of responsibility, occasional travel, and periods of long or meeting-heavy days. I primarily work outside the home but may have occasional remote days depending on schedule demands.

The most important thing to know about our family is that we are looking for long-term stability and partnership. This role is not just childcare; it is household support and operational consistency. We value reliability, discretion, and someone who takes initiative. We are looking for a trusted adult presence who can help create structure and ease in our home while supporting the boys' routines and overall household flow.

I have a long-time boyfriend who lives in Austin and travels up every other weekend. We also have 2 family-friendly dogs.

About the Children: Our oldest is a 14-year-old male. He is highly independent and prefers solitary activities over social time with peers. He enjoys gaming (strategy and building-style), technology, and deep dives into his interests. He is intelligent, observant, and can be reserved. He does not require hands-on supervision and generally manages himself well.

He responds best to direct, respectful communication and clear expectations. He does not enjoy forced socialization and should not be pushed toward group activities. He is autistic and does not have any medical special needs. A nanny for him is primarily about availability and oversight rather than active engagement.

My youngest is a 7-year-old male. He is energetic, imaginative, and expressive. He loves adventure-themed play, animals, and hands-on activities. He is affectionate and engaging and still very much a young child who benefits from structure.

He responds well to routine, patient transitions between activities, and calm, consistent boundaries. He does best with a steady adult who is warm but firm. He has no medical special needs.

Their Ideal Family Assistant: We are looking for someone mature, proactive, and dependable who understands that this role blends childcare and household management. This person takes initiative, communicates clearly, and does not require constant direction. They are organized, calm under pressure, and capable of managing multiple small tasks without becoming overwhelmed.

Reliability and punctuality are non-negotiable, particularly regarding school pickups. Discretion, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently while respecting household routines and boundaries are essential.

Comfort with basic technology is important. The candidate should be able to use shared digital calendars, communicate via text and email, access shared documents, and complete standard online forms without assistance. We value clear, direct communication and operate best with straightforward expectations and feedback.

The right person is comfortable both receiving and giving direct communication without taking it personally and has a good sense of humor. They will feel at ease in a home that values direct communication, mutual respect, and the ability to laugh at everyday chaos without being overwhelmed. The candidate is calm, steady, not easily flustered, and demonstrates strong emotional regulation and good judgment.

Additional Job Details:

  • The role includes daily school pickup for both children and transportation home. A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and comfort driving children in your car are required. Gas mileage will be reimbursed. Reliability and punctuality for school pickup are critical.
  • The only dietary restriction in the home is that the oldest son has a peanut allergy.
  • There are no religious requirements associated with this role. We value respect for different perspectives and encourage kindness and inclusivity.
  • This position blends household management and childcare. In addition to pickup and after-school supervision, responsibilities may include light household organization, coordinating vendors (lawn care, handyman, etc.), running occasional errands, and helping maintain overall household flow.
