Mechanic

Technical Qualifications

• Experience: At least 5–7 years hands-on with heavy vehicles (trucks, forklifts, loaders, excavators, etc.).
• Knowledge: Diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, cooling systems, braking systems.
• Forklifts: Specific experience with electric & diesel forklifts (since you have both).
• Preventive Maintenance: Not just repair-and-breakdown, but scheduling oil changes, filters, tyres, lubricants.
• Diagnostics: Ability to troubleshoot using scanners/tools, not just trial-and-error.

Soft Skills / Behaviour

• Discipline: Follows instructions and keeps proper job cards/records.
• Proactive: Identifies issues before breakdown (preventive action).
• Team player: Able to supervise a helper and coordinate with other departments.
• Accountability: Doesn’t hide mistakes, reports honestly.
• Communication: Can explain issues clearly to you and non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out daily/weekly/monthly inspections on fleet.
• Completing job cards for every repair/maintenance.
• Coordinating with purchasing for spare parts.
• Keeping tools and workstation organised.
