About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical BIM Designer to support the design and modeling of complex mechanical systems for large-scale construction projects. You will translate engineering designs into accurate 3D BIM models and prefabrication drawings used in the field, and coordinate closely with internal and external teams to ensure accuracy, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
· Create detailed 3D models of mechanical systems in Autodesk Revit, following BIM content standards and company protocols.
· Produce construction- and prefabrication‑ready plan sets and assist PMs with submittal documentation.
· Import and align laser‑scanned building models into Revit; run clash detection and visual walk‑throughs in Navisworks.
· Mark and verify locations of plumbing and HVAC systems using total station equipment (as applicable).
· Support all design phases through documentation, model visualizations, and coordination with field teams.
· Communicate designs clearly through graphics, presentations, and virtual reviews.
· Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and trade partners to ensure quality and design alignment.
Qualifications
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 5+ years of mechanical design experience using Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks.
· Demonstrated ability to produce construction‑ready plan sets in Revit.
· Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems and their components.
· Experience with mechanical prefabrication workflows; familiarity with tools such as PractiRev is a plus.
· Proficiency in Bluebeam and related collaboration/markup tools.
Skills & Attributes
· Strong 3D visualization and spatial coordination skills.
· Excellent time management; able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
· Highly organized with strong attention to technical accuracy and detail.
· Clear, professional communicator comfortable collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
· Self‑driven, tech‑savvy, and eager to adopt new BIM technologies.
Schedule & Work Setup
· Onsite in Manhattan, NYC.
· Standard U.S. business hours; occasional off‑hours coordination as project needs dictate.
· Reliable internet connection and job‑ready workstation setup when using company systems.
