The Mechanical CAD Draftsman / Design Engineer will be responsible for preparation of detailed HVAC and manufacturing drawings, layouts and fabrication-ready documents. The role supports project execution and factory production by providing accurate, practical and cost-effective designs for HVAC systems, ducting, PUF panels, doors and related mechanical components.
Key Responsibilities:1. HVAC Design & Drafting
- Prepare HVAC system layouts including AHU rooms, duct routing, equipment placement and services coordination.
- Draft detailed ducting drawings (GI / PPGI) including sections, supports and accessories.
- Prepare shop drawings for AHUs, air cooling units and HVAC components.
- Develop BOQ-ready drawings based on project requirements and specifications.
2. Manufacturing & Fabrication Drawings
- Prepare fabrication drawings for sheet metal components, PUF panels, frames, doors and enclosures.
- Generate press brake bending drawings, cutting layouts and assembly details.
- Ensure drawings are suitable for shop-floor execution and manufacturing feasibility.
- Coordinate with production team to incorporate practical manufacturing inputs.
3. Door & Cleanroom / OT Related Design
- Prepare detailed drawings for cleanroom doors, OT doors, fire-rated doors and accessories.
- Develop frame profiles, panel sections and installation details.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and project specifications.
4. Design Coordination & Revisions
- Coordinate with project engineers, site teams and clients for design inputs.
- Modify and revise drawings based on site conditions, approvals and changes.
- Maintain proper drawing revision control and documentation.
5. Technical Calculations & Support (for Design Engineer role)
- Assist in HVAC load calculations, duct sizing and equipment selection (as applicable).
- Support preparation of technical submittals and compliance documents.
- Assist projects team during execution for design clarifications.
6. Documentation & Standards
- Maintain organized drawing folders, CAD files and design records.
- Ensure adherence to company standards, templates and naming conventions.
- Follow relevant IS, ASHRAE and project-specific standards.
Educational Qualification:
- Diploma / ITI / Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Specialized CAD training will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 1 to 6+ years of experience in HVAC drafting and mechanical manufacturing drawings.
- Experience in HVAC contracting, cleanroom, hospital or industrial projects preferred.
- Fresh candidates with strong CAD skills and HVAC basics may also be considered.
Software Skills:
- AutoCAD (Mandatory)
- SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo (Preferred for manufacturing design)
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and documentation tools
