Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of mechanical systems and components, working on a diverse portfolio of projects. You will collaborate with clients, project managers, and cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Scope:

• Responsible for detailed Mechanical design and calculations (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection), Revit/BIM modelling, authority submissions and construction support from tender through IFC and site stages.
• Responsible for detailed mechanical design and calculations for HVAC, plumbing, fire and gas systems.
• Produce Revit/AutoCAD drawings, calculation packages, specifications, BOQs and authority submissions.
• Coordinate BIM models with other disciplines
• Review shop drawings and support construction with technical clarifications and RFIs.
• Ensure compliance with local authorities and international standards while optimizing cost and constructability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review mechanical design deliverables: Revit/AutoCAD drawings, calculation packages, design reports, specifications and BOQs for tender, IFC.
• Perform HVAC calculations (cooling loads in HAP or equivalent), ventilation & smoke extraction sizing, air/hydronic distribution, static pressure and equipment selection (AHUs, VRF, chillers, pumps).
• Design plumbing, drainage, firefighting and gas systems: water demand, fixture selection, pipe routing & sizing (sanitary, storm, waste, vent, fire, gas), tank & pump sizing, sprinkler layout and pump room design.
• Develop utility corridor and service layouts (plan & section) and coordinate stormwater, potable water and other buried services with other trades.
• Build and maintain coordinated Revit/BIM models, perform clash checks and produce MEP coordination drawings and mark-ups.
• Prepare authority submission packages and ensure designs meet local authority and international codes (e.g., Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence, Estidama, Empower) and project specifications.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals; evaluate technical quotes and recommend cost-effective, approved products.
• Respond to RFIs/technical queries, issue site/engineer instructions and provide construction support and site clarifications.
• Attend design and construction meetings, supplier technical meetings and progress reviews; liaise with contractors and manufacturers.

Tools & Skills

• Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, HAP (or equivalent cooling-load tool), hydraulic & fire calculation tools, MS Excel/Word; strong technical writing, coordination and problem-solving skills.
