  1. Position Summary:


The Mechanical Design Engineer will be supporting new designs for CSM (customizations) and Production Support for our Forklift trucks built in Houston.


For production support: The ideal candidate will be hands on for troubleshooting issues that may appear on the production line as well as field issues and come up with design solutions that will be implemented under his/her guidance. The role also includes implementing changes that occur in production (such as component changes due to obsolescence, new design requirements per applicable standards or company mandated changes among others.)


For CSM: the candidate will develop new design solutions to satisfy customer needs for trucks that are about to be ordered or field installations.



  1. Position qualifications:


The ideal candidate shall function well in a cross-functional team environment and be able to communicate design solutions that may affect another area.


Work effectively in an environment where project priorities may shift in response to customer needs.


Willing to travel domestically and overseas (0-10%)



  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design and drafting using CATIA V5 (or similar)

  • Create and manage specifications, CAD models, drawings, BOMs within a PLM


database.



  • Compliance with established drafting standards such as ASME Y14.5.

  • Assure that designs are functional, safe, reliable, serviceable, manufacturable, cost


effective, meet compliance requirements, and aesthetically and ergonomically correct.



  • Create layouts of product designs. Perform component and assembly tolerance reviews, assembly reviews, and functional reviews of machined, molded, and fabricated parts.

  • Participate in presentation of designs and design reviews.

  • Develop and monitor prototype creation by ordering parts, requesting specific testing, assisting in building, and reviewing test results to ensure proper functioning.

  • Bachelor/ or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering



  1. Education and Work experience:


Bachelor/ or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering


Ideally Minimum of 3 years of prior related work experience
