Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop designs and manufacturing processes of cable assemblies and interconnects for the medical device industry.

Function

• Part and tool design in Solidworks
• Hands-on development of processes and creation of manufacturing documents such as work instructions and assembly drawings.
• Procurement and setup of equipment such as molding machines, wire stripping machines and other cable assembly processing tools.
• Supports new product launches including creating part drawings, creating process routings, coordinating internal PPAP and capability study activities, machine and process-related upgrades or retrofits, defining process capacities and workforce utilization, and other industrialization tasks as related to the area.
• Develop and document test methods and design verification protocols.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Qualifications: Mechanical engineering background. 3D design experience using Solidworks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred Mechanical Engineering background with strong interest in pursuing relevant industry experience within the healthcare and medical devices industry a plus.
• Use of PC and applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel.

Preferred Skills

• Read and interpret drawings, datasheets and technical documentation. Familiarity with cable assembly manufacturing i.e. soldering and crimping processes. IPC/WHMA 610, 620, J-STD. Certification a plus.
• Experience with plastic injection molding
• Working knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to use digital multi-meters to assess electrical characteristics.
• Ability to use calipers, rulers, pull test and other inspection devices
• Development and execution of equipment qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Working within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
