Mechanical Draftsman – Job Description

Job Summary

The Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed mechanical drawings, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings for construction projects. The role involves creating accurate technical drawings for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and other mechanical systems while ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and local authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
• Develop detailed HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting system layouts based on design requirements.
• Review project specifications, tender documents, and engineering drawings.
• Coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and MEP teams to resolve design and drawing conflicts.
• Revise and update drawings according to consultant comments and site requirements.
• Prepare equipment layouts, ducting layouts, piping layouts, and schematic diagrams.
• Assist in quantity take-offs and material schedule preparation when required.
• Ensure all drawings comply with project standards, local authority regulations, and engineering codes.
• Maintain proper documentation and drawing records throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with site teams to verify dimensions and prepare accurate as-built drawings.
• Support project execution by providing technical drafting assistance and drawing updates.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsman, preferably in the UAE.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
• Familiarity with UAE construction standards and authority requirements.
• Excellent technical drafting and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
