Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, inspecting, maintaining, and improving mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of mechanical assets, performs root-cause analysis for breakdowns, supports maintenance teams, and provides engineering expertise for projects, upgrades, and continuous improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical System Design & Improvement
- Assist in designing and developing mechanical components, systems, and modifications.
- Prepare and review mechanical drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.
- Recommend engineering improvements to enhance reliability, performance, and safety.
2. Inspection & Maintenance Support
- Conduct regular inspection of mechanical equipment, rotating machinery, pumps, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and provide solutions to the maintenance team.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns.
- Ensure equipment meets operational safety standards and compliance requirements.
3. Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting
- Investigate mechanical failures and perform root-cause analysis (RCA).
- Identify corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurring issues.
- Document breakdown reports and provide engineering recommendations.
4. Project & Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance for installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical systems.
- Assist in planning and executing mechanical projects, upgrades, and improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project quality and timelines.
5. Safety & Quality Compliance
- Ensure all mechanical work adheres to safety codes, engineering standards, and best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments before executing mechanical tasks.
- Ensure proper documentation of designs, inspections, test reports, and maintenance activities.
6. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with maintenance, operations, procurement, and management teams.
- Maintain technical documentation, drawings, and equipment history records.
- Report performance issues, material requirements, and project updates to management.
