Mechanical Engineer – Ammonia Plant (Cold Storage)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in ammonia-based refrigeration systems for cold storage facilities. The role involves supervising, maintaining, and optimizing the performance of refrigeration plants and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee operation and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, cooling towers, and related plant equipment.
• Plan and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and enhance system reliability.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and lead repair works for refrigeration and cold storage systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards, particularly regarding ammonia handling.
• Monitor plant performance, analyze operating data, and suggest improvements for energy efficiency.
• Coordinate with AC technicians and operators for day-to-day plant operations.
• Prepare maintenance reports, equipment history, and technical documentation.
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment in cold storage facilities.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety procedures during plant maintenance and operation.
• Train and guide technicians and junior staff on safe handling and technical procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration systems, cold storage, or food processing industry.
• Strong knowledge of ammonia-based refrigeration technology, industrial chillers, and HVAC systems.
• Proficiency in mechanical design, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning.
• Familiarity with safety standards, P&ID diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• UAE/GCC experience preferred.
