Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Role Overview
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for determining the approximate costs of mechanical installations (HVAC, Plumbing & Drainage even if any knowledge of firefighting system) for our upcoming projects. You will analyze blueprints, calculate material and labor requirements, solicit supplier quotes, and prepare competitive, profitable bid packages. Your work will directly influence our project budgeting and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Analysis: Study and interpret project blueprints, specifications, and scope of work to determine exact mechanical requirements.
- Quantity Take-Offs: Perform accurate material and labor take-offs for HVAC, chilled water piping, plumbing, drainage and firefighting systems.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed, competitive Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates for equipment, piping, and mechanical installations.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain, review, and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving solutions, alternative materials, and efficiency opportunities without compromising project quality.
- Risk Assessment: Highlight potential mechanical scope boundaries, exclusions, and commercial risks within tender documents.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all estimates and proposed designs align with UAE mechanical & MEP codes and safety standards.
- Database Management: Keep organized records of past estimates, supplier offers, and historical cost data to improve future bidding accuracy.
- Reporting: Present comprehensive technical and commercial proposals to management and clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical or MEP estimation within the UAE market.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, as well as local authority regulations (DEWA, Dubai Municipality standards).
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in MS Excel and industry-standard estimation software.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, mathematical, and negotiation skills with a proven track record of meeting strict tender deadlines.
