
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections and quality control checks of mechanical installations at site.
- Ensure mechanical works are carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Monitor contractor activities and verify compliance with the approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
- Verify installation of infrastructure systems such as HVAC, pumps, valves, piping networks (potable water, firefighting, storm drainage, sewer), and mechanical equipment.
- Witness site tests such as hydrostatic tests, leak tests, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Review and comment on technical submittals, method statements, and shop drawings.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspection and test results.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and regulations during site execution.
- Identify and report non-conformities and assist in issuing NCRs when required.
- Coordinate with other discipline inspectors and the construction supervision team.
- Attend technical and coordination meetings as required by the project.
- Support the Resident Engineer and Mechanical Engineer in all site-related matters.
- Review and verify that the contractor's materials and equipment deliveries meet project specifications and approval requirements before installation.
- Supervise mechanical works related to infrastructure networks including pumping stations, manholes, valve chambers, and utility crossings.
- Monitor site progress against the approved baseline schedule and report any deviations related to mechanical activities.
- Collaborate with QA/QC and HSE teams to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Ensure that contractor’s as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals are accurate and submitted on time.
- Participate in regular site coordination meetings and provide updates on mechanical work status and concerns.
- Support the Mechanical Engineer and Resident Engineer in managing site queries and technical clarifications (RFIs).
- Inspect and verify mechanical works during handover and snagging stages and ensure all punch list items are completed satisfactorily.
- Coordinate with third-party laboratories and agencies for testing, calibration, or inspections as required.
- Verify and document contractor manpower, equipment, and materials related to mechanical works at site.
- Provide technical input for variations and change orders, when applicable.
- Assist in the review and approval of contractor's monthly invoices related to mechanical work items.
- Ensure the proper integration of mechanical systems with civil, electrical, and structural works on site.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure/utility projects.
- Knowledge of international codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, etc.) and local authority standards.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction materials, testing, and commissioning procedures.
- Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Good communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
- Familiar with quality control procedures and safety regulations.
