The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of HVAC, piping, and mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role manages all aspects of project delivery including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and coordination of field operations.
Projects typically include commercial tenant improvements, interior fit-outs, and system installations, requiring strong coordination across trades and the ability to deliver high-quality mechanical systems on aggressive timelines. The ideal candidate has a strong background in HVAC systems and thrives in fast-paced, client-focused environments.
- Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Oversee HVAC scopes including heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and piping systems.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost tracking, and financial forecasts.
- Create and manage project schedules, ensuring alignment with overall construction timelines.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure proper scope execution.
- Review and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contracts.
- Collaborate with field teams and Superintendents to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Support procurement of mechanical equipment and materials to meet schedule demands.
- Participate in design-build and preconstruction efforts, including estimating and system coordination.
- Maintain communication with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify project risks and implement solutions to maintain schedule, budget, and performance goals.
- Oversee project closeout including commissioning, punch list completion, and final documentation.
- 5–10+ years of experience as a Project Manager in mechanical or HVAC construction.
- Strong experience managing projects involving HVAC systems, refrigeration, and piping.
- Background working for a mechanical contractor or general contractor with MEP focus.
- Proven experience managing projects from start to finish (full lifecycle).
- Strong understanding of construction processes including scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working on commercial interior fit-outs, renovations, or fast-track projects.
- Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination and integrated project delivery methods.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
