Mechanical Supervisor

Position Overview

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all site activities related to piping works using Carbon Steel (CS) and Stainless Steel (SS) materials, as well as coordinating associated mechanical and electrical tasks. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Works (CS & SS Materials)

  • Supervise fabrication, installation, alignment, and testing of CS and SS piping systems according to project specifications and international standards.
  • Review and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and material specifications.
  • Monitor welding activities, including WPS/PQR compliance, fit‑up, root pass, and final weld quality.
  • Oversee hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, flushing, and reinstatement of piping systems.
  • Ensure correct handling, storage, and installation of SS materials to prevent contamination.

Mechanical Works

  • Supervise installation and alignment of mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, tanks, skids, and rotating/static machinery.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with piping systems, ensuring proper support installation, torqueing, and equipment connections.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during installation and commissioning phases.

Electrical Coordination

  • Coordinate with electrical teams for equipment connections, motor installations, cable routing, and control panel interfaces.
  • Ensure proper mechanical–electrical integration during installation and commissioning.
  • Support troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.

Project Supervision

  • Plan daily work activities, allocate manpower, and ensure availability of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with HSE standards and permit-to-work systems.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and communicate updates to project engineers and management.
  • Ensure all work is executed according to QA/QC requirements and project timelines.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise pipe fitters, welders, fabricators, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve on-site issues promptly.
  • Train team members on proper installation methods, safety procedures, and material handling.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supervising CS and SS piping works in construction, industrial, or oil & gas environments.
  • Strong understanding of piping standards (ASME, ASTM, API), welding processes, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (HSE, PTW systems).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities
