Mechanical Supervisor – PTW (Permit to Work) – Qatar

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Supervisor – PTW is responsible for supervising mechanical maintenance, installation, and shutdown activities under the Permit to Work (PTW) system. The role ensures all work is executed safely, in compliance with Qatar Energy PTW regulations, company HSE policies, and approved method statements.

Key Responsibilities:1. PTW Coordination & Compliance

  • Ensure all mechanical activities are performed under approved PTW procedures.
  • Verify validity of permits including:
  • Hot Work Permit
  • Cold Work Permit
  • Confined Space Entry Permit
  • Work at Height Permit
  • Excavation Permit
  • Conduct site verification before permit activation.
  • Ensure proper isolation and LOTO (Lock Out / Tag Out) implementation.
  • Close permits after job completion and ensure housekeeping standards.

2. Mechanical Supervision

  • Supervise maintenance, repair, dismantling, and installation of:
  • Pumps, compressors, turbines
  • Valves and pipelines
  • Static and rotating equipment
  • Heat exchangers and pressure vessels
  • Coordinate manpower, tools, and materials.
  • Monitor contractor performance and work quality.
  • Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings and method statements.

3. Safety & HSE Compliance

  • Enforce company and QatarEnergy PTW safety standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks prior to work execution.
  • Ensure workers use proper PPE at all times.
  • Identify hazards and implement risk control measures.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.

4. Shutdown & Maintenance Activities

  • Supervise plant shutdown and turnaround works.
  • Coordinate with operations team for equipment isolation and handover.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned shutdown activities.
  • Maintain progress updates and daily reporting.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain PTW logs and mechanical activity records.
  • Prepare daily progress and manpower reports.
  • Verify completion certificates and handover documentation.
  • Support audit and inspection activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of experience in Oil & Gas or Industrial maintenance projects.
  • Strong knowledge of PTW systems (preferably QatarEnergy standards).
  • Experience in shutdown and plant maintenance.
  • Familiar with ASME, API, and international safety standards.
  • Valid QID with transferable visa preferred.
