Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Tech/Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, medical documentation, and working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily activities including bathing, dressing, mobility, and personal hygiene to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor vital signs and observe changes in health status, promptly reporting findings to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining detailed medical records.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or other medical procedures under supervision.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of all patient information.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation of patient care activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and respectful environment.
- Adhere to safety protocols related to infection control, medication administration, and emergency procedures.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using proper techniques to prevent injury for both residents and staff.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic nursing practices.
- Experience with medical documentation systems such as EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is essential.
- Familiarity with dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities is advantageous.
- Proven ability to perform tasks such as medication administration, vital signs measurement, catheter care, and tube feeding accurately.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining patient confidentiality in medical records management.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to effectively interact with residents and team members.
