Media Assistant (Part-Time)

Established journalist seeks detail-oriented and tech-savvy Media Assistant to provide part-time support from her beachfront home office. This role is ideal for someone with strong computer and submission skills, publishing, and media research. Hours are flexible and vary depending on the workload and publishing cycles.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in journalism, publishing, communications, or media
• Strong computer skills
• Familiarity with Submittable and Muck Rack preferred
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently in a home-office environment
• Proficient with Google Workspace and basic digital publishing tools
• Professional, discreet, and reliable

Responsibilities

• Upload and format articles for publication
• Submit pieces through platforms including Submittable
• Compile press lists and journalist contacts
• Manage and update media profiles on platforms including Muck Rack
• Draft pitch emails or query letters as needed
• Coordinate with editors, publicists, and outlets
• Monitor inbox communications related to editorial and media inquiries
• Track submission deadlines, pitches, and publication statuses
• Maintain editorial calendars and planning documents
• Maintain organized digital files for articles, research, and contacts
• Assist with newsletter distribution or website updates
