JOB PURPOSE

As a Media Production Officer you are expected to independently execute end-to-end media production projects and provide reliable technical support within the College’s facilities. The Officer focuses on the consistent delivery of high-quality content and the day-to-day coordination of studio activities under the guidance of the Specialist.



MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

1. Assist in planning, preparing, and executing media coverage requests for internal and external events, projects, and activities (e.g., conferences, sports, cultural activities) inside and outside the University of Sharjah.
2. Operate and manage a variety of professional technical equipment, including video cameras, DSLR cameras, audio equipment, studio lighting, studio mikes, and sound equipment for both studio and on-location shoots.
3. Design, edit, and integrate diverse digital content, including video projects, short documentary films, promotional videos, motion graphics, 2D/3D animation, photography, illustrations, and other multimedia visualization products.
4. Complete post-production tasks using industry-standard audio, video, and photography editing software, combining recorded video files, audio commentary, background music, and ensuring the final product meets all technical and creative specifications.
5. Review final media drafts to ensure compliance with photographer credit, copyright, captioning, branding policies, and any legal or contractual usage policies.
6. Provide technical support and advice to students (undergraduate and senior/graduation projects) and faculty on the structure, design, and execution of media production concepts, systems, and solutions.
7. Perform regular preventative checkups and necessary troubleshooting on sensitive equipment (e.g., camera bodies, lenses, lighting, filters) and software, promptly reporting any issues or incidents to concerned personnel.
8. Maintain logs of equipment usage and help organize the digital archive of all media assets.
9. Ensure that safety standards and proper operational protocols are implemented in all facilities at all times, and oversee the cleanliness and tidiness of the studios and labs.



REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
  • Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of professional video, DSLR, and mirrorless cameras, lenses, and specialized accessories.
  • Ability to operate audio equipment, including studio microphones, field recorders, mixers, and ensure high-quality sound capture.
  • Basic knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and motion graphics/design tools (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Basic knowledge of studio and location lighting techniques, including setting up and adjusting professional studio lighting, grips, and rigging equipment.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Digital Arts, Film, Communication, or a relevant Media related discipline.
  • Professional certification in industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Certified Professional in Video Editing or Visual Design) is highly desirable.
  • 2-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
