POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Demonstrates competency in administering medical procedures for the treatment of pre-surgical screening. Demonstrates competency in performing medical procedures in accordance with individual client and physician protocols for surgical procedures. Performs administrative tasks, in accordance with departmental procedures. Provides high quality service to patients, client companies, provider offices and Dameron Hospital. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations, also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a non-union position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


1. Review visit Worksheet to determine medical services needing to be provided.


2. Ensure all required forms have been fully completed by the patient.


3. Obtain vital signs (e.g., height, weight blood pressure, pulse) and perform all necessary tests prior to patient being seen by the Clinician.


4. Must be able to perform and demonstrate competency in the following medical procedures in accordance with departmental training standards if certification applies:

  • Electrocardiograms (EKG)
  • Dipstick Urinalysis
  • Vision testing – Snellen and Ishihara

5. Assist in the treatment of patients at the direction of the medical provider. Must be able to perform and demonstrate competency in the following medical procedures:

  • Maintain sterile technique
  • Setup suture and other procedure trays
  • Wound cleaning, preparation and dressing
  • Placement of splints and braces
  • Eye irrigation
  • Ear Lavage

6. At patient discharge:

  • Ensure all tests and examination procedures have been completed

7. Perform the following administrative tasks if needed in accordance with departmental procedures:

  • Answer telephones, schedule appointments
  • Register patients the Athena EHR
  • Log patients arrival and departure times, to monitor service delivery time
  • Log Point of Care testing in log book

8. Frequently monitor examination rooms and testing areas to ensure they remain clean and stocked


9. Ensures that all clinical supplies are in full stock and that each exam and screening room is stocked.


10. Notify supervisor immediately of any situations, which may require immediate follow-up.


11. Must work at a fast pace, independently and with minimum supervision.


12. Must effectively and courteously communicate both by telephone and face to face.


13. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, accurately and completely.


14. Display willingness to assist patients and fellow staff.


15. Types with accuracy at 25 wpm.


16. Speaks medical terminology, articulately.


17. Handles conflict in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

FTE 1.0 5x8s - Days

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assisting course.

Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Licenses/Certificates: Medical Assistant License (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) Current Basic Life Support Certification Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician, License issued by the CA Dept of Public Health Laboratory Field Services, preferred.
