Medical Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical procedures, patient care, and medical administrative support, with experience in inpatient or outpatient setting. The Medical Assistant will be instrumental in supporting the infusion nurse in the infusion suite of an outpatient rheumatology practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
• Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support clinical assessments.
• Prepare patients for infusion including starting IV access.
• Administer subcutaneous medications and injections following established protocols, including basic medication administration skills.
• Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures.
• Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring a positive experience.
• participate in the process of prior authorization for medication approval.
• Support administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and managing patient records to ensure seamless clinic operations.

Skills

• Must be proficient in Spanish and English.
• Proficient in IV access with recent experience over the last 1 year.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical-surgical practices.
• Experience working within hospital/outpatient clinic environments.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and ICD coding for accurate documentation.
• Strong understanding of outpatient care processes.
• Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Excellent communication skills to provide clear instructions and compassionate patient interactions across diverse populations.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
