Medical Assistant Full-time
Allergy and Immunology Associates of Michigan Has been Serving amazing care to Michigan families all over South-East Michigan for 40 years with 7 locations currently seeing patients. We are currently seeking a Full time Medical Assistant primarily for our Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti offices. We are looking for an eager professional ready to jump into our growing practice and become part of the team.
Opportunities for leadership roles and advancement
Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:
* Rooming patients- beginning their appointment with a smile and kind gesture, it goes a long way.
* Taking and recording vitals (Weight, height, blood pressure, respirations, pulse, spo2, temp) entering this in the EMR.
*Through the EMR Prescribing platform, Confirming drug allergies, preferred pharmacy, current medications.
* Perform Skin Prick Testing (SPT) to a large number of environmental and food panels and individual items helping the doctor to get to the root cause of a patients allergy symptoms.
*Placing NAC-80 patch testing on patients ordered by provider, which tests for a number of chemicals, metals, and items that many with Contact dermatitis could be reacting to.
*Helping facilitate in office food and drug challenges, and venom testing. Intradermal testing for stinging insect allergies and penicillin.
* All MA's are cross trained to be able to be in the role of shot "nurse" once there is comfort in back Clinic role. To administer injections including vaccines, immunotherapy injections, biologic injections for Chronic Hives, Asthma, and more.
*Helping treat anaphylaxis in shot patients or patients with challenges. Including retrieving the anaphylaxis bin, getting vitals, drawing up epinephrine from ampule, documenting and assuring provider notified to evaluate.
* Perform spirometry testing on patients with Asthma, and COPD, Reactive Airway Disease.
Medical Assistant Qualifications:
* Certified Medical Assistant
* Preferably 1-3 years experience as medical assistant in office setting
* Pediatric experience is a plus but not required
* BLS certified
