Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including gathering medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
  • Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with precision
  • Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort
  • Support physicians during procedures by handling specimen collection, X-ray coordination, or medication administration under supervision
  • Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary and maintain readiness for emergency situations in Level I or Level II trauma center settings
  • Manage medical administrative support tasks including ICD coding, appointment scheduling, and insurance documentation
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper sterilization of medical equipment used in dermatology, surgical suites, or emergency medicine units

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in clinical settings such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or specialty areas like dermatology or internal medicine
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology essential for accurate patient support
  • Experience working with EHR systems and familiarity with ICD coding for documentation accuracy
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or OR experience are advantageous
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations including pediatrics (PICU), geriatrics, or trauma patients
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine units or Level I trauma centers
  • Hospital experience involving inpatient care or medical-surgical units highly preferred
