Sarasota Medical Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our clinical team. The ideal candidate will assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care, administrative tasks, and ensure a smooth and efficient workflow within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens
- Schedule patient appointments and manage follow-ups
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in EMR systems
- Handle patient inquiries and provide instructions as needed
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Medical Assistant certification preferred)
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer applications
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
