Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant and become a vital part of delivering exceptional patient care across diverse medical settings.

We are seeking a bilingual, compassionate, skilled, and patient-centered Medical Assistant to join our STD/HIV and Primary Care clinic. This role is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in phlebotomy, particularly with difficult venipunctures (“hard sticks”), and who is committed to providing high-quality care to underserved and vulnerable populations.

The Medical Assistant will support providers in delivering comprehensive sexual health, HIV care, preventive medicine, and primary care services. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with diverse patient populations, maintains strict confidentiality, and demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity in every patient interaction.

Duties

  • Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to monitor patient health status
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process
  • Document patient encounters accurately using medical terminology and ICD coding for diagnoses and treatments
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests, assist with specimen collection, and manage inventory of medical supplies

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, or hospital medicine
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient support
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding to ensure precise documentation and billing processes
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in X-ray operation or medication administration are advantageous
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle intake efficiently while maintaining professionalism and empathy
  • Ability to work effectively in inpatient settings across diverse specialties such as geriatrics, medical-surgical units, or emergency medicine
