Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems with accuracy.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to support clinical assessments.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout their visit.
- Support physicians with clinical tasks including medication administration, specimen collection, X-ray procedures, and basic life support (BLS) when needed.
- Manage medical documentation using ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure precise billing and recordkeeping.
- Conduct routine clinical duties across inpatient, outpatient, emergency medicine, and specialized settings such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Level I/II trauma centers.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, coordinating appointments, and facilitating smooth clinic flow.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as hospital medicine, emergency departments, or outpatient clinics.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate patient care.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding for documentation accuracy.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications in X-ray operation or medication administration are a plus.
- Experience working within hospital environments or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in fast-paced settings like urgent care or medical-surgical units.
- Excellent communication skills to provide compassionate patient care across diverse populations including geriatrics and internal medicine patients.
